Alice's Arc is delighted to appoint Natalie Carpenter as a new trustee for the charity

Natalie, a trainee psychologist, is the mother of two boys, both diagnosed with cancer within months of one another.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of another trustee to Alice's Arc. Natalie Carpenter is the mother of two boys, both diagnosed with cancer within a few months of each other in 2017. Freddie with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma and Arthur with a medulloblastoma brain tumour. Sadly Freddie passed away in October 2018 after his tumour unexpectedly spread to his brain. Arthur, now aged 4, remains in remission following his treatment. Freddie is one of Alice's Arc's inspirations, please see the link to his story below which features on our website.

Natalie's unique experience of parenting two children with cancer will be invaluable in her role as a trustee. Also, key to the rationale of Natalie joining as a trustee is her expertise as a trainee child and adolescent psychologist. Alice's Arc focuses on fundraising to find a cure and better treatments for rhabdomyosarcoma by funding research undertaken by a leading team at the Institute of Cancer research in conjunction with Great Ormond Street and the Royal Marsden. Our next strategic goal is to launch another component to the charity known as family well being which aims to provide support to families with a child with rhabdomyosarcoma - from diagnosis, treatment, remission, palliative care and loss/bereavement. Natalie's expertise as a psychologist will be instrumental in the design and delivery of this new service offering. Alice's Arc will aim to provide a unique framework of family well being initiatives to help families cope with such a challenging and unpredictable journey. We want families to know that we are here for you. Watch this space!
